Scrapalicious USA and Simon Says Stamp Challenges

Anything Goes at Scrapalicious USA and Simon Says Stamp this week and that is my favorite kind of challenge! I am sharing a card I made recently with some new stamps I had to buy from Hero Arts. I loved the Swiss Dots flowers the first time I saw them and I knew there would be no resisting them. I printed them on blue velum, cut out and raised each layer with mounting tape. I printed the leaves (from the same set) on green velum and cut them out as well. The background of the card is an embossing folder from Craft Concepts and I cut out the butterflies with a craft knife and raised their wings to show the aqua blue card base below.

Guy's Cards and More Blog Candy!

It's Crackerbox Palace Thursday and today I am sharing some cards I made for the guys featuring stamps that are available from Crackerbox Palace. You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning this week’s blog candy are below.

But first- the winner of last week’s blog candy of the stamps featured on one of the  cards last Thursday is ………………………………………….Lynn! Here is her winning comment: “Oh my goodness!!! I must go check out Crackerbox Palace and become a follower! I adore that image on your first card! SO cute and the sentiment is perfect! Fantastic card! The second card is just stunning and beautiful! Love the different colored squares! Two wonderful creations! Lynn”
Lynn, please send me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want, so we can get you the stamps you have won.  And remember you can win another CBP stamp of your choice simply by posting a card you made with the stamps you won to your blog or Splitcoast Stampers gallery and sending us a link.
My first card above started with a background created using the pillow top technique that I learned here from Gina K. It is so easy and I just love the look. Then I just added an awesome cowboy silhouette and a happy birthday banner to make a great guy’s card.

My second card also features a Crackerbox Palace cowboy silhouette stamp. Did I mention I love silhouette stamps? And CAS cards? I started with a masculine dp background, then added the barb wire border, the cowboy silhouette and sentiment for an easy but fun card for a special guy.

So would you like to win the fun stamps featured on one of today’s cards? Here is how to win our weekly blog candy:

1.) We have decided that becoming a follower on both blogs is going to be something we would prefer you do but not a requirement.  My blog is here and the Crackerbox Palace blog is here.

2.) Leave a comment on either my blog or the Crackerbox Palace blog on the Thursday blogpost featuring CBP stamps.  If you leave a comment on BOTH blogs, you will be entered twice in the drawing.   The deadline to leave a comment will be the following Wednesday at Noon CST. Mr. Random will pick a winner from the comments and he or she will win the featured stamp(s). You must send me (khasheck@gmail.com) or Crackerbox Palace (crackerbox@crackerboxstamps.com)  an email with your home address so the stamps can be mailed to you. If we do not hear from you within two weeks after we announce your win, and we can’t reach you through a blog, your prize will be forfeited.  And if you post a card to your blog or to Splitcoast Stampers with the stamps you won and send a link to Crackerbox Palace, you will win another Crackerbox Palace stamp of your choice!!

I am entering these cards in the Anything Goes challenge at Party Time Tuesday and the challenge at Creative Craft to make a mono-chromatic birthday card.

Designer's Choice Challenge at Repeat Impressions

It’s another Designer’s Choice Challenge at The House that Stamps Built, Repeat Impression’s blog. It’s Lynette’s turn this time and she is challenging us to use flowers on our cards.  Make a card with flowers anywhere on it and enter it for a chance to win some awesome Repeat Impressions rubber! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards for this DCC challenge.

For my card, I used a pretty bouquet stamp from Repeat Impressions and floral two sided dp as well. I saw this sketch and idea to cut and fold back two sided dp on Pinterest and saved it to try. I sponged around the edge of the dp to distress it a little and added a fun RI sentiment on the dp piece. The floral bouquet was stamped on the white base card and colored with markers.

I am entering this card in the challenge at Fashionable Stamping to use flowers on our cards.

Whoopsi Daisy and Tammy's Scrapin' Corner Challenges

The challenge at Whoopsi Daisy this week is to use 2 patterned papers (atleast) and at Tammy's Scrapin' Corner they want to see lots of layers. This is a card I made a while ago for a sketch challenge at my local stamp club, but I had never blogged. I loved the sketch and the vintage look and the felt flowers went beautifully with the vintage style. Each piece of paper was sponged before putting it together on a white card base and the velum layer was attached with brads over two of the dp layers.

A Gem of a Challenge and Speedy and Friends Challenges

This week at A Gem of a Challenge they want us to use Animals or Teddies and at Speedy and Friends Challenge at Mark's Finest Papers they want us to "Try a Different Fold." What is different about this you ask? Take a peek:

Not sure of what the name of this fold is or even where I found it. But it is unique I think. The oval frame is attached to the top of the center fold of the card and the oval white piece is attached to the bottom and when you open the card, they separate. Not at all hard to do when you have the right dies from Nestabilities. The snowflake embossing folder is from Sizzix and the little cute penguin was paper pieced and attached with mounting tape to raise.

Winter Wonderland and Bearly Mine Challenges

Anything Goes at Bearly Mine Challenges this week and at Winter Wonderland Christmas Blog Challenges they want to see our red and green holiday cards. I won some new stamps from Kitchen Sink Stamps after being published with their stamps, and had fun designing this card with them. The red ornament balls were created with a series of stamps in different shades of red to make the balls appear so real- that is the magic of the Kitchen Sink brand of stamps. I love how they make me look like I know what I am doing in shading and coloring when that is far from the truth:) The sentiment is from Crackerbox Palace and I "hung" the ornaments with silver cord off a pine bough created with a punch from Martha Stewart. I added some colored snowflake eyelets to complete the card.

REMEMBER IF YOU ARE A SUBSCRIBER, and getting this in your email, I have changed subscription providers and you need to enter your email in the new box at the top right of my blog to continue to get the emails after the paid option goes away. Not sure when that is going to happen- I cancelled but I am now on a "free 30 day option" I think?? Anyway, after the old one goes away, you will continue to get my blog posts in your email IF YOU SIGNED UP IN THE NEW BOX  but a day later.

Divas by Design and Sisterhood of Crafters Challenges

Anything Goes at Divas by Design this week and Sisterhood of Crafters want to see our sympathy cards. I designed some new sympathy cards recently to give to my son and daughter in law to have on hand whenever they might need one. None of us like to think about needing a sympathy card, but it makes sense to me to make them when we don't need them and have them on hand when a friend or relative loses someone special. I think it means more when the cards are hand made. This one was another CAS monochromatic card using a nice sentiment, a little embossing and a subtle stamp.

Penny's Paper Crafty and Paper Pretties Challenges

Masculine is the theme this week at Penny's Paper Crafty and Paper Pretties wants to see our cards for kids. I was sorting through my stamps to sell some that I never use to make room for my new stamps and I came across this large wooden jacket stamp that I just had to have at a stamp show years ago and had never used. I decided I had to use it before I sold it and made some cards for my kids as cards for teen boys are the catagory of cards we get the least of at Send a Smile 4 Kids. Sorry I don't know who made the stamp and it is in a big bag downstairs ready to be sold at the next stamp sale at our local stamp shoppe. Here is what the card looks like on the inside:

Crackerbox Palace For The Ladies and More Blog Candy!

It's Crackerbox Palace Thursday and today I am sharing some cards I made featuring two different styles of ladies stamps that are available from Crackerbox Palace. You can win your choice of the stamps featured on ONE of these cards by leaving a comment on either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning this week's blog candy are below.

But first- the winner of last week’s blog candy of the stamps featured on one of the cards last Thursday is …………………………………………..Hilde!! Here is her winning comment:  “Oh Karen, these are lovely, I really like the technique you used and the colour choices are perfect. You are an amazing Card Artist, there is no other word for it. Not sure which card I like better, am in love with the rose image. Just gorgeous. Blessings Hilde
Hilde, please send me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want, so we can get you the stamps you have won.  And remember you can win another CBP stamp of your choice simply by posting a card you made with the stamps you won to your blog or Splitcoast Stampers gallery and sending us a link.
My first card above just cracks me up and I hope it will the recipient as well. One of the reasons I was so drawn to Crackerbox Palace stamps thd first time I found them was their awesome line of funny funny stamps. Clara and the sentiment are just perfect for a card for someone we want to tease about their age. I am pretty magnificent myself:) I stamped Clara, paper pieced her suit and cap, colored a little and cut her out. I stamped the sentiment and cut out the circle with a nesties die. I embossed the white card with a numbers folder from Cuttlebug and attached the circle and Clara with pop dots to raise. The 4 shades of pleated ribbon are from Stampin’ Up.

My second card features a very different style of stamp for the ladies. The Woman’s Back is very elegant and so I tried to make the card elegant as well. I started with a very subtle designer paper and stamped the Woman’s Back in the middle. I cut the dp into pieces and sponged it with different shades of ink. I put it back together, stamped the Joy sentiment and layered onto a black card. I added some butterflies, pearls and baker’s twine to complete the card.

ATTENTION ALL SUBSCRIBERS!

Because of cost concerns, I am changing my subscription service to the free one offered by Blogger.

IF YOU WISH TO CONTINUE RECEIVING (ALMOST) DAILY CARD IDEAS IN YOUR EMAIL MAILBOX, YOU MUST GO TO MY BLOG HERE  AND COMPLETE A NEW SUBSCRIPTION REQUEST.

The new "Follow by Email" blog badge is the first thing on the top left. (Edited to say- your other left- really on the top on the RIGHT. ) Just fill in your email address and your daily ideas will keep coming by email.

For a short time you may receive two emails while this transition happens. One thing I will miss with this change is, I have no control over when you will receive the emails. It appears from my trial run, you will receive the email for my daily blog updates overnight on the day I post, so while you should still receive the email updates daily, they will be one day later (unless you are up in the middle of the night:)

I am sorry for any confusion or extra work this will cause you. But the cost has doubled and I just can't continue to justify the expense.

I love my subscribers and hope you all choose to stay on my subscription list. And welcome to any new subscribers and followers as I continue to share ideas and stamping fun everyday.

Scrapping Memories Tuesday and More Blog Candy!

It’s another Scrapping Memories Tuesday here and I am happy to share another fun card featuring digital stamps from Scrapping Memories and to offer some more blog candy you can win! The simple rules for entering our blog candy contest are below.  But first I am announcing the winner of the blog candy drawing from the comments made on my last Scrapping Memories blog post.

The winner of 5 digital files (cutting or digital stamps) is………………………………………………
Claire! And her winning comment was:” Such a fun card, love your layout too. Thanks for joining us at NMW Challenges and good luck! Claire xx”

Claire- please contact me at khasheck at gmail dot com and I will put you in touch with Scrapping Memories to claim your prize!

My card today features a super cute digital stamp from Scrapping Memories called Beach Bum Butterball Baby. I  thought he would be perfect for a card for a child! I especially loved his sunglasses, so decided to put him on a sunglasses shaped card I found here (with a link to a free template!) I printed out the template on pink dotted dp and the lenses on white cardstock that I sponged with black ink. I printed the cute baby and put him on one lens and added a fun sentiment from Repeat Impressions on the other lens. I added some bling and a sun brad to complete the card.

To give you an idea what the template looks like, here is a pix of the card opened:

I am entering this card in the challenge at Paper Playtime for “polka dots and sentiment” and the “use a sentiment” challenge at Whoopsi Daisy.

How can you win the Scrapping Memories blog candy? Every other Tuesday I will post a new card and contest. And each time I show you a project featuring some of their fun digital files, we are going to be offering you a chance to win some blog candy! Just leave a comment below sometime in the next two weeks and you will be entered for a chance to win 5 digital stamps or cutting files from Scrapping Memories!!  If your comment is the winning one picked by Mr. Random AND if you have the Scrapping Memories blog badge on your blog, you will win TWO MORE free digital stamps or cutting files!!  (It is not required to win the blog candy that you have the blog badge on your blog, but you can win more if you do.)

Here is the code for putting the Scrapping Memories’ blog badge on your blog:

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week

The stamp of the week this week at Repeat Impressions is the pretty fern stamp, and it is available this week only for 50% off with the discount code found at Repeat Impressions blog. What a deal! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the other Rock Star's cards using this stamp.

For my card, I got inspiration from a great sketch I found somewhere on Pinterest. I love this sketch and it is perfect when you have a smaller stamp like the fern you want to feature. I stamped the fern three times at different angles on the inchies I cut out of off-white cardstock and layered them on dark green squares. I stamped the fern stamp off, then stamped the larger square for a light background. I over stamped with a lovely sympathy sentiment from Repeat Impressions, layered on dark green and attached.

Anything Goes at SAS4Kids!

It’s time for another fun challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids and this week our theme is your favorite and mine – Anything Goes 4 Kids! We have two very generous sponsors this week so you have two chances to win a random prize! Robyn’s Fetish is giving their winner 5 digis of their choice!  And Saturated Canary’s prize is 2 digis of the random winner’s choice!  TEAM S.A.S will be choosing their favorite cards for our top three and the winners will receive a blog badge and an opportunity to be a guest design team member on a future challenge.

I am in love with my first card- I admit it. This image from Saturated Canary called Dance Music is just so beautiful! I paper pieced her outfit and boots and colored the rest of her with copics. I loved the music in her hair and continued the music theme with stamps from Skipping Stone Design. If you like this one, you should go to the SAS4Kids blog and see the ones my team mates colored up- just gorgus!

My second card just makes me smile, and hopefully it will do the same for the child who receives it. The fun puppy called Puppy Paws is from Robyn's Fetish and as is my style, I paper pieced him with a little coloring. I added a fun sentiment from TAC and some designer tape to complete the CAS card.

Crackerbox Thursday and More Blog Candy!!

It's Crackerbox Palace Thursday and today I am sharing some cards I made featuring beautiful thank you and flower stamps that are available from Crackerbox Palace. You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning this week’s blog candy are below.

But first- the winner of last week’s blog candy of the stamps featured on one of the friends cards last Thursday is………………Sarah of Aunt Bee’s Pickles! Her winning comment on the Crackerbox Palace blog was: “Hi Karen and Crackerbox Palace! What adorable cards. Karen your cards are always so uplifting (hehe, with the bra stamp). I know dorky - but you know me! The second sentiment is beautiful and so true!! Great job and thanks for the opportunity to win. Hugs, Sarah”
Sarah, please send me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want, so we can get you the stamps you have won.  And remember you can win another CBP stamp of your choice simply by posting a card you made with the stamps you won to your blog or Splitcoast Stampers gallery and sending us a link.
My first card above features a combination of two techniques I learned via Pinterest. Have I told you I am totally addicted to Pinterest now in addition to my addictions to stamps, punches, die cuts, embossing folders, etc. etc.? I search every night for great new ideas and pin them to my boards here. The floating reinker technique tutorial can be found here and the layering technique tutorial is here. I layered the pieces of white cardstock, then stamped the flower stamp repeatedly with VersaMark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. Following the floating reinker technique, I sprayed with water and “painted” with a variety of bright Adirondack reinkers. After letting it dry completely, I layered on purple paper. I stamped the lovely flower in yellow ink, cut out and over stamped with the Thank You sentiment to complete the card.

My second card features a gorgeous rose stamp from Crackerbox Palace that I colored using the same floating reinker technique. I layered it on a white scalloped square cut out and embossed with a Nestabilities die. I added a simple Thank You to the corner of the green piece, then layered on a burgundy card.

So would you like to win the beautiful stamps featured on one of today’s cards?

I am entering these cards in the challenges at Simon SaysStamp and Show to use your favorite Technique (the floating reinker technique) and Add Some Flowers at  Tammy’s Scrapin’ Corner.

DCC at Repeat Impressions- Use Scoring on Your Card

It’s another Designer’s Choice Challenge at The House that Stamps Built, Repeat Impression’s blog. It’s my turn this time! I am challenging my team and you to create a card using scoring of some kind anywhere on your card. Did you know Repeat Impressions sells the Scor-Pal and Scor-Buddy and all the other tools you need to easily score on your cards? I have both and keep the Scor-Buddy right on my desk (it’s the perfect size to have right where you need it) and the Scor-Pal is large enough for any scoring project. Click on this link to see these great products at Repeat Impressions. And please visit the blog for all the details on this challenge and to see the other Rock Star's cards for this DCC challenge.

For my card, I started with a white piece of cardstock that I scored diagonally every ½ inch with my Scor-Pal. I used my white pearl pen to add pearls at each intersection for an elegant look. You have to be real patient waiting for them to dry, but I love the look and am not going to put that many real pearls on a card. I stamped the beautiful sentiment from our summer release, then cut and embossed with a nesties die. The lovely butterfly was embossed with sparkly black embossing powder, then cut out and attached.

I am entering this card in the Anything Goes Challenge at Paper Pretties.

Cards for Maddy and Melanie and Prizes to be Won

I am sharing an extra card and blog post to tell you about a way you can help some sweet little girls and maybe win an awesome prize doing so. I heard about Maddy and Melanie from a blog post here on Jennifer McGuire's blog which I subscribe to. She referred us to this blogpost where you can win some great prizes if you just send in a card or two to help cheer Maddy and Melanie. Maddy is a 13 year old battling leukemia and she will be receiving a stem cell transplant from her 15 year old sister Melanie.  Cards of encouragement and love for these girls would do so much to lift their spirits. Will you join me in sending them a big hug in the mail? That is what our hand made cards are- a hug you receive in the mail.

I am sharing a Thinking of You card I made for a stamp camp last year. The tulip newsprint stamp is from Hero Arts and I stamped it on some pretty subtle patterned paper. I stamped the sentiment, then cut out, embossed and sponged will still in the labels die (Nestabilities) and attached with mounting tape to raise.

Robyn's Fetish, OSAAT and Whoopsi Daisy Challenges

Anything Goes is the theme at One Stitch at a Time and Whoopsi Daisy this week and monochromatic is the theme at Robyn's Fetish. Lately I have been making more and more monochromatic cards for some reason- I guess I just like the look. I played with a whole bunch of dies and punches for this card. The leaves are from Cherry Lynn Designs, the branch from Memory Box and the bird punch is from Fiskars. The sentiment on the inside is by Hero Arts. I love to use the positive and negative of dies and punches and did so on the bottom of the inside of the card which shows as the front was cut down. I used a variety of shades of green and added some gems and pearls to complete the card.

Crafty Catz and Art Impressions Challenges

Anything Goes at Crafty Catz this week and at Art Impressions they want us to use any sentiment on our cards. I used a sentiment and swirly flowers from Heartfelt Creations to create this card. I have seen this type of layered card many times recently in my Pinterest searches and found a tutorial here to try one for myself. It is very easy to do and I love the look you get. I used all black and white except for the pop of color for one flower I raised up and added a pearl to.

Doodle Pantry Baby Card

I discovered a challenge at Doodle Pantry recently that is just awesome! You can download a super cute set of digital stamps called Crescent Moon Ants FREE and then design a baby card with it for a chance at some great prizes! I used the colored version of this darling stamp and the perfect sentiment is part of the set too, so you just need to print them, decide on a layout and voila! you have a super cute baby card.

I am also entering this card in the Oh Baby challenge at Card Crafters Circle and the challenge at  Aud Sentiments to use a sentiment to welcome baby.

Paper Take Weekly and Crafty Sentiments Design Challenges

CAS is the challenge at Crafty Sentiments Design and Anything Goes at Paper Take Weekly this week. I saw this idea of cutting around parts of an embossing folder and raising the cut parts up to show a darker color of paper below at my local stamp shop. I used a Darice embossing folder and cut around the butterflies wings. But the wings were plain white and I didn't like that look, so I cut them out of a light blue velum, embossed with my favorite Swiss Dots folder (Cuttlebug) and attached to the white cut out butterflies. I added some pearls and an old sentiment from TAC to complete the CAS card.

Crackerbox Palace Thursday and More Blog Candy!

Today there is a bonus third card because I was having so much fun with the friend sentiments I didn’t stop at two:) You can win your choice of the stamps featured on one of these cards by leaving a comment at either blog. The simple requirements for a chance at winning this week’s blog candy are below.

But first-  to find out the winner of last week’s blog candy of the stamps featured on one of the “Focus on Sentiment” cards last Thursday you need to visit the CBP blog here. I am on a mini vacation in Door County celebrating my anniversary with my DH and I scheduled this blogpost before I left.

If you are the lucky winner, please send me or Crackerbox Palace your address and your choice of which stamps you want, so we can get you the stamps you have won.  And remember you can win another CBP stamp of your choice simply by posting a card you made with the stamps you won to your blog or Splitcoast Stampers gallery and sending us a link.

My first card above features Trixie in the scalloped heart (Nestabilities) and a fun- and so true- sentiment about bras and friends. I used a highlighter to accent parts of the sentiment, and a heart border punch by Martha Stewart.

My second card and third cards features another beautiful friendship sentiment from CBP and a whole bunch of dies too numerous to name. But as usual, I want my cards to say something and either of these would be great for a good friend’s birthday or a thinking of you card.

It's time for another fun sketch challenge at The House that Stamps Built and we are challenging you to make a card using the sketch below and link it up for a chance at some great Repeat Impressions rubber! For all the details on what you can win and to see the other Rock Stars cards using this sketch, please visit our blog.

For my card I started with a real photograph I found in one of my files of some clouds and a mountain background. I stamped the plane silhouette from the Big Boys Toys collection on the photo and cut it out with a large circle nestie. I stamped the “Wishing You” sentiment from the same set on purple and added some gems to complete the card.

Here is the sketch for you to follow when you create a card for our challenge:

I am entering this card in the Anything Goes challenge at Two Sisters Challenge Blog.

Scrapping Memories and Blog Candy You Can Win!!

If you follow my blog, you know about my love for kids. Making any child happy touches my heart and that is why I became involved with Send a Smile 4 Kids and stepped up to become the blog’s owner and team leader when it was in danger of closing down. Recently I discovered a website called Scrapping Memories where there are so many cute digis and cutting files that are darling for making cards for kids. They were so kind in sharing their digital files with me to help make my kids smile, so I have joined up with them to share cards and scrapbook pages here on my blog every other Tuesday.  And each time I show you a project featuring some of their fun digital files, we are going to be offering you a chance to win some blog candy! Just leave a comment below sometime between now and Monday, August 20, 2012 at 9:00 am CST and you will be entered for a chance to win 5 digital stamps or cutting files from Scrapping Memories!!

I will announce the winner of the blog candy on August 21st and you have two weeks to email me at khasheck at gmail dot com so I can put you in touch with Scrapping Memories to claim your prize.  I will try to contact you to let you know you have won, but if I am unable to reach you through a blog or email, and you do not contact me within the two weeks, your prize will be forfeited.  We will try to have a new blog candy contest every other Tuesday on my blog.

Enough chatter- you came for the pictures, right? I created a Back to School card to share today and started with this darling colored digi of Matthew all ready for school. I had some colored lined notebook paper that I cut with a Nestabilities die and added a perfect sentiment (digi from Rainbow’s Echo.)

I am also sharing some scrapbook pages I made of my grandson attending a Harry Potter birthday party. I found some perfect HP  designer paper and printed and cut out the Harry Potter digital stamp from Scrapping Memories to accent these awesome pix from the party. Here is the second page of the layout and a super cute pix of the Harry Potter participants.

Hope you enjoyed my CAS projects featuring Scrapping Memories digitals. Leave a comment below for a chance to win some for yourself. Here’s another great reason to check out their website:  Scrapping Memories is having a Summer Sale right now- 60% OFF everything in the store!! And they are adding a bunch of new digi files this week- check out what is new and maybe buy some raffle tickets to help Carrie while you are there.

I am entering the card in the Anything Goes challenge at No Matter Which Challenge.
